It sounds backwards: the hottest week of the year, and your air conditioner is covered in ice. Yet frozen coils are one of the most common midsummer failures we see across Jonesboro — and they always mean something upstream has gone wrong.
Why Coils Freeze in NEA Humidity
Your evaporator coil gets cold by design. Normally, warm humid air flowing across it keeps it just above freezing while it pulls heat and moisture from your home. Two things break that balance:
- Restricted airflow — a clogged filter, crushed duct, or failing blower means not enough warm air reaches the coil, and it drops below freezing.
